Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is the world’s greatest celebration of motorsport and car culture. Held annually in the grounds of Goodwood House near Chichester in West Sussex, the festival attracts over 200,000 visitors across four days.

The festival features the legendary hillclimb, where historic and contemporary racing cars, supercars and prototype vehicles tackle the 1.16-mile course through the Goodwood estate. Alongside the hillclimb, visitors can experience car manufacturer displays, the Cartier Style et Luxe concours, the First Glance paddock showcasing future talent, and the increasingly popular Future Lab technology exhibition.

Goodwood House is located approximately 60 miles south-west of Central London — a journey of around 90 minutes under normal conditions, extending to two hours or more during the festival weekend.

Getting to Goodwood by Chauffeur

The most common route from Central London is via the A3 southbound through Guildford and then the A286 towards Chichester, or via the A24 through Dorking and Horsham depending on traffic conditions.

During the festival, traffic builds from early morning on the A286 and A285 approaching Goodwood. The final 5 miles to the estate entrance can be slow, particularly on Saturday — the busiest day of the festival.

Our chauffeurs have experience navigating the Sussex road network during the festival and use local knowledge to avoid the worst congestion. We plan the approach route based on your specific entrance gate and use real-time traffic data to adjust on the day.

We recommend departing London by 7:30am on Saturday for a comfortable arrival. Thursday and Friday are quieter, and an 8:30am departure is usually sufficient.

What to Expect at the Festival of Speed

The Hillclimb — The centrepiece of the festival. Racing cars from every era tackle the 1.16-mile course through the Goodwood estate, from pre-war Grand Prix cars to current Formula 1 machines. The hillclimb runs throughout the day with the shootout final on Sunday afternoon.

Manufacturer Displays — Every major car manufacturer creates elaborate stands and interactive experiences. This is where new models are often unveiled to the public for the first time.

Cartier Style et Luxe — A prestigious concours d’elegance featuring some of the most beautiful and rare cars in the world, judged in the grounds of Goodwood House.

The Paddocks — Open access to the racing paddocks allows visitors to get close to the cars and drivers. The atmosphere is relaxed and accessible compared to circuit-based events.

First Glance — A showcase for up-and-coming drivers and teams, giving visitors a glimpse of motorsport’s future talent.

The festival is a full day out. Most visitors arrive by mid-morning and stay until the final hillclimb runs in the late afternoon. With a chauffeur, you can enjoy the entire day without worrying about the drive home through Sussex.
